Call to Compassion is my ongoing photo essay to bring attention to suffering in the world and to inspire attitudes and behaviors in us to help others. My work as a photojournalist has taken me inside emergency, operating and delivery rooms, housing projects, homeless shelters, drug abuse centers and death row. It has brought me to aftermaths of earthquakes, hurricanes and floods, to prison riots and protest marches and into the homes of the sick, rich and the poor. In all these situations, I have strived to record and to find the great human emotions that bind us together. In the harshest and most isolated, desolate corners, I seem to find blessings. Please let me invite you to sit back a while and meet some of the wonderful people I have had the privilege to photograph. It is my hope that you will find blessings too. |
